Fast forward to now, I’m still figuring shit out. I’m in my 30s, my kids are older, I’ve been living the married life for four years now. I’ve started a few businesses along the way. Some I kept, some I closed.
Now that my kids are older, more independent and mostly use me as their Uber and personal chef, I’ve found myself with a little more time for me.
I’m in a season where I’m embracing the woman I’m becoming. I like to get shit done, and I’m very detail-oriented. For some reason, I work better under pressure. I would much rather be at my desk than in the kitchen, lowkey. I’m big on being on time, and if I’m running late, I start freaking out.
My faith is a huge part of who I am.
God has carried me through seasons in my life that I know I wouldn’t have had the strength to get through on my own.
I’ve always enjoyed writing.
I remember I had a diary when I was in my teens. Don’t come at me.
I know you bitches had one too.
I became a mom at a young age, and naturally, my focus shifted to motherhood. Life happened, years passed, and somehow I found my way back to writing... except now I have a whole damn blog. Lol.
Becoming a mom shaped so much of who I am today. Young me thought she was in love... little did she know, her life was about to turn into a whole damn novela.
Life Unfiltered came from wanting a place to talk about the things we tend to keep inside. I wanted a space that felt personal, where I could share my stories and thoughts instead of making a long-ass post every time I have something to say.
I grew up in the MySpace era, so you know my page was cute as fuck. From the layout, to the music, the pictures, and the Hello Kitty background. Looking back, MySpace was my first little corner of the internet. Social media now, though? It’s a whole new ball game.
Social media now gives us a glimpse into each other’s lives. What we’re doing, what we’re into, where we’re going, what we’re celebrating, or just whatever the hell we feel like posting. But that’s only part of the story.
We all have shit going on behind the scenes. Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. There are things we’re dealing with, thinking about, questioning, or keeping to ourselves. Sometimes we overthink and assume no one cares about what we have to say, when really, it might help someone else going through the same shit.
I wanted Life Unfiltered to be a place where I could share my thoughts, experiences, the good, the bad, and everything in between. And if anything, just a little reminder that it’s okay to go through the lows. It’s okay to not have everything figured out.
I think as women, we tend to put so much pressure on ourselves trying to make sure everyone is good, handle our responsibilities, and chase our goals that we forget to take care of ourselves.
There’s been this little voice in my head that keeps telling me to just go for it. Because let’s be real, who actually wants to put their shit online for people to read? Lol. I’ve dodged the idea more than once, but it keeps coming back and this time, the timing feels right. I have no idea how far this little blog will go, but fuck it, let’s give it a try.
Life Unfiltered will be my place to write my truth based on my own experiences, the things I’ve lived and learned. So stay, come back, read along... just don’t come looking for answers because I’m still figuring this shit out myself. Lol.
